@grugstan.bsky.social What about In Vitro (2024)? Though that’s a very rural film.

@stevensenior.bsky.social I feel you. The volume of information and number of responses and systems that are expected is ridiculous. It’s not a lot better for the kids. OLEs, google docs, blah, blah, blah. Too many systems and processes. I wonder how many kids are turned off school by endless admin rather than learning.

@scalzi.com European sense of scale, perhaps?

@drjpersian.bsky.social It’s impressive but it also means that every task is a massive assessment instead of low stakes and more formative – a sin I’m guilty of too.

Not easy to be a kid but I think teaching quality is better. More structure, less ambiguity, less scope for favouritism or arbitrariness?

@drjpersian.bsky.social The structure are rubrics my kids have for assessments are much more akin to what I see at universities now than what I recall – and with more process documentation and stage gates. I worry that a lot of these skills seem to be eroded by the time I see them as postgrads.

@nicolasnicola.bsky.social Given government contribution to operating costs is somewhere between a quarter and a third, it’s unsurprising they act like businesses - which isn’t a good thing (that may be what the article argued, I couldn’t access it).
