@thehobo.bsky.social Leisure slacks are poised for a comeback

@benhr.bsky.social Not too hyperbolically, maybe the Rohingya genocide? Or maybe the Tigrayan famine/genocide?

Both would probably have happened without the internet, but not on the same scale – perhaps it was a critical enabler?

As for VCRs, Ringu?

Even the events listed in that post had multiple precursors 🤷

@benhr.bsky.social I loved that too

@benhr.bsky.social It seems like it’ll make use of you though, and all of us.

@roycerk2.bsky.social I’m now realising how many journos I know.

@roycerk2.bsky.social I was planning to fly to your Paris launch!

@roycerk2.bsky.social Nice work! I forgot to tell you how much I enjoyed it (in spite of my pledge to myself to never read a book written by a journalist [and apologies for using that slur])

@benhr.bsky.social Ctrl-F? Never heard of it.

@yimby.melbourne DIIV look old now.

@benhr.bsky.social It’s interesting to see that many commercial RAGs seem beset with similar issues, which is particularly damming given that’s their entire use case www.reddit.com/r/notebooklm…

@benhr.bsky.social It’s interesting because even RAGs don’t seem to read what they say they can read. Opacity is a big issue! www.reddit.com/r/notebooklm…

@greenj.bsky.social Our time has come.

@benhr.bsky.social True enough

@benhr.bsky.social “Meanwhile, the space the loom inhabited is now occupied by a military-funded textiles project. The rooms require a security clearance to enter. At the end of last year, RMIT closed enrolments for its certificate four in textile design, after the state government ended subsidies for the course.”

@courtneymilan.com What’s driving that, do you think?

When I look at older gadgets I can see and feel the effort, thought and care given to their design and manufacturing.

Now everything seems like a thinly-veiled scam. Heft is often due to metal plonked inside plastic, to give the illusion of craftsmanship.

@akwyz.com “achieving 70% accuracy for age prediction and 80% accuracy for floor area prediction”. Am I alone in thinking that’s not that impressive?

@benhr.bsky.social Yeah it’s a different sandpit now.

@benhr.bsky.social We have to normalise going late-career Liam Neeson on these people.

@benhr.bsky.social Yes, quite right.

@benhr.bsky.social Sh has a more interesting background than I’d have guessed www.migrationheritage.nsw.gov.au/exhibition/b…

@byanothername.net Fascinating!

@liamhogan.id.au In every lawyer’s mind they’re already jaeger pilots drifting with the law every day.

@maggiefox.bsky.social Jean-Marc Aveline so we could have another Avignon Pope.
